About Us

  • Members of PAPN Austin conducted three meetings starting in November 2015

    • Primarily focused on legislative questions

    • Realized we needed outside input

    • Visits to PAPN Houston and San Antonio

  • PAPN Facebook group created set up June 21st to answer the question, “What do Psychiatric APRNs want from a statewide group?”

  • Needs were identified and include:

    • Salary & business information

    • Marketing our profession

    • Legislative action

    • Community

    • Local PMHAPRN groups

    • Supervision

    • Preceptors

  • The first meeting was held in Austin on September 17, 2016.

  • We began the process of creating bylaws, becoming an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization, creating a website, finding the PsychAPRNs of Texas and encouraging membership, and other topics. 

  • Founding Membership (as well as regular and student membership) began which provided the funds to get us started.

  • A Board was elected and began meeting to provide leadership for our new organization.

  • Regional Chairs were elected in each of the seven regions of Texas, and began actively networking in their regions. 

  • Committees are forming, our website is developing, and all members are contributing in some way to better the practice of PsychAPRNs in Texas.
